The Savage and The Splendid

Pink hair and the Batman V. Superman dilemma · Jul 1, 01:57 PM by Whitney

Throughout human history one of our main problems is that people are afraid of people who don’t look like them. This is why I can’t have pink hair at most jobs. I think I am going to buy a wig in order to deal with this problem. Some people may ask why I don’t just dye my hair to a normal color and wear the pink wig when I feel like it.

This is where the Batman v. Superman dilemma comes in. Now, when Bruce Wayne gets up in the morning he is Bruce Wayne. He puts on his Batman costume and becomes a superhero. On the other hand, when Superman wakes up he IS Superman. He puts on his Clark Kent costume and goes to work.

I would rather be Superman. I want to wake up a superhero.

  1. I’ve always felt that the roles should be reversed in that particular dichotomy. Superman was raised by Ma and Pa Kent to be Clark Kent, and Superman is costume Clark puts on to fulfill Clark Kent’s moral duties. In contrast, Batman is what Bruce Wayne turned himself into in order to deal with his pain. Bruce is the costume, put on to keep up appearances and continue to be Batman.

I know the nature of their powers or lack thereof make it seem like Superman is always Superman because he is never without his abilities. Perhaps it comes down to a nature vs nurture argument at the end of the day.
